Yoga has been practiced for 1,000s of years and research teams abound trying to document and prove its benefits. If you have been doing Yoga for awhile, you can FEEL the benefits without having to see the results on paper.  But, for those wanting more proof… this Yoga Heart Health Study is exciting!

In the December 2014 issue of the European Journal of Preventative Cardiology, the findings of researchers at the Harvard University Health Policy Program found:

“The benefits of Yoga were on par with the positive effects of exercise such as brisk walking.  Researchers… found those randomly assigned to participate in yoga classes had improvements in their weight, blood pressure and cholesterol. This finding suggest that (people).. do not have to ‘pound the pavement’ in order to improve their cardiovascular risk profile.”
